No one graduates?!
"DTC is a study centre. It is a community. It is a workshop where
products are handcrafted. It is a potter's house where clay is being shaped. It forms part of God's school of discipleship from which no one ever graduates in this life!"
Alumni involvement in cross-cultural ministry
Currently
there are thirty seven alumni in cross-cultural ministry (five of these are doing some Sabbatical study before returning to the field). They are involved in ministries like bible translation, theological education,
student work, evangelism and church planting.
They have been sent out from Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Australia and the USA and minister in Europe, Central Asia, East Asia, Cambodia, Indonesia, South Thailand, India and Taiwan. A further twenty-five were formerly cross-cultural missionaries including first batch students Joshua Ogawa the first OMF missionary from Japan, the late Spring Ho the first OMF missionary from Hong Kong and David and Dorothy Chen the first to go out from Taiwan with CMO.
At least twelve who have moved from Asia to the West are ministering amongst international students and communities. Seven others, including four of us at DTC, are training people for local and
cross-cultural ministries and ten are ministering in sending organisations as board members, administrators etc. Allowing for some overlapping in the above, this makes 81 alumni out of a total of 310. Out of the
total of those involved in cross-cultural ministries one way or another, the percentages are as follows:
