AT DTC there is a serious concern for biblical, theological and missiological study, which is carried out both in the classroom and private study. While excellence is not our main concern, it is an area in which we seek to maintain a level competitive with and complementary to other Christian colleges.
The Faculty are well qualified in these fields, and a balanced program of lectures, group studies and tutorials has been carefully planned. In addition we have guest lecturers who have fields of expertise to complement our program.

There are 4 full-time lecturers and varied number of visiting lecturers. The ratio for student teacher is 3-4:1 Two classrooms with 8-10 students in a class.

George Capaque ( Dean)

George and his wife Dawn served with IVCF Philippines for many years - including a period as General Secretary from 1984-1992. George has also been a pastor both in the Philippines and in Canada. Just before joining DTC he served as founding Director of the Centre for Continuing Studies at the Asian Theological Seminary in Manila where he had been previously Dean for a number of years. He studied at Regent College and has a PhD in Applied Theology from De La Salle University of Manila. In 1988 George and Dawn spent three months in DTC.

Eileen Poh

Eileen practised law for several years before doing her theological studies at Discipleship Training Centre (DTC). After DTC, she went on to do her M Div at Trinity Theological College (Singapore).
In 1991, Eileen joined the staff at DTC for 15 months after which she went to the UK for doctoral studies. She completed her Ph D in biblical studies in 1998 and is very glad to return to teach at DTC.
Eileen is married to Philip Satterthwaite, who is the Old Testament & Hebrew lecturer at Biblical Graduate School of Theology.

Jeanette Hui

After graduating with a degree in history from the University of Malaya Dr Hui came to DTC in l968 as a first-batch student. She was a co-founder of the Pusat Latihan Kristian Melaka which became the English Dept of the Malaysia Bible Seminary. She has also served as a lay ministry staff for ten years with her home church in Singapore. She has done post-graduate studies at the then London Bible College and at the Graduate School of Wheaton Coll ege, Ill, USA. This is the second time she has returned to teach full-time at DTC. Her D. Min dissertation at Fuller was in the area of Christian Spirituality.

Alvin Tan

After graduation Alvin planned programmes for YMCA for several years. In 1991, together with his wife, Daisy, they went to DTC for theological studies to prepare for a cross-cultural ministry. They served in Cambodia with OMF from 1995, reaching out to university students, assisted in church planting and Alvin taught at Phnom Penh Bible School. In 2006, they returned to help their children reintegrate back to Singapore schools and to teach at DTC. Alvin also serves as Mission Pastor of Bartley Christian Church. Alvin & Daisy have three children.

Warren R Beattie

Warren and his wife Stroma are missionaries with OMF International. Since 1991 they have served in Asia. Initially they were in South Korea from 1991-1997 where they were involved in missionary training and mobilization, leadership training and teaching at a Christian university.
From 1998 onwards, they have been in Singapore. Warren has been a residential Faculty member of DTC teaching Missions and Biblical Studies and is now Adjunct Faculty. He was appointed as the Director for Mission Research with OMF in July 2007.
Warren has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh relating to Missiology in Asia.

Thomas John

Thomas John previously served as a Singapore FES staffworker and was on the faculty of the Nairobi School of Theology, Kenya. He did further research in 19th Century English Theology at Regent College under J I Packer. Thomas is an itinerant Bible Teacher and Explositor in Brethren Assemblies in Singapore and abroad.

Peter Teo

Peter served for a term in Japan through OMF. Currently He is the Associate Pastor (serving as Pastor-in-charge of mission) at Mt Carmel Bible Presbyterian Church in Singapore.

Cheng Hock studied theology and counselling in both Singapore and Australia. He is the Pastor-in-Charge of Church of God (Evangelical), Singapore.

John D Ting

After a period of high school teaching in Sydney, John went in 1968 as a first batch student to DTC where he met and married his classmate Frances from Hong Kong. After further studies John returned in 1973 with his family to join the DTC faculty. He taught at DTC until 1991 serving the last five years as Assistant Dean.
For thirty years John was also heavily involved in the drug and prison ministry in Singapore. From 1992-2000 John served in Sydney in his home church as the co-senior minister before returning to DTC as Dean. John and Frances have three grown up children.
John retired as Dean in June 2009.
